Koalas in Australia
At birth, a baby koala is so little, smaller then a dollar coin.
Weighting about 5.5 grams and only 2 cm in length. Mum koala produces food in her pouch for baby koala for about six months. After that cub takes a ride on her back. When is one year old, baby koala leaves the mother and finds its own tree.

Koalas can be without drink for a long time and they eat about
1kg of leaves a day, some much more. They have a very good
sense of smell. They sniffs at leaf closely examining if its palatable. Their eyes are very similar to cats eyes. Koalas are very relaxed, always in rests mood, some times with a half eaten gum leaf in mouth.

There are many different types of gum leaves and they are the main diet of koalas. I could add that koalas are one of the noisiest mammals of the Australian bush.
Camels in Australia
In Australia there are hundreds of thousands of camels. The estimated population of camels in Australia is between 150,000 and 200,000 and they are distributed through-out the arid interior of Australia. Approximately 50% in Western Australia (W.A.), 25% in Northern Territory (N.T.), and 25% in Western Queensland and Northern South Australia. Not long ago Australia has started exporting camels to Saudi Arabia.

The first Camel in Australia was imported from the Canary Islands in 1840. The next major group of Camels came out in 1860 for the ill-fated Bourke and Wills expedition. The first time the explorer Giles used Camels he travelled 220 miles in eight days without giving water to the Camels.

He later went from Bunbury Downs to Queen Victoria Springs, Western Australia (W.A.), a distance of 325 miles in 17 days and gave one bucket of water to each Camel after the 12th day. The 1891 expedition by Lindsay and Wells covered 510 miles in 34 days. They only gave their Camels 4 gallons of water each.
Little penguins in Australia
They are found only in Australia and New Zealand. Penguins live on rocky shorelines and those on the photo are from Granite Island. On Granite Island there is about 1500 of them scattered offshore islands.

They are only 35cm tall and weigh about 1.2kg what makes them the smallest penguins species. They go fishing every day before dawn and they are so fast, they look like some flying birds under water.. Their food is small fish or even squid. Penguins do sleep but only 4 minutes at the time standing up or lying down.

They communicate with their voices very well. Different sounds are calls for different purposes like attracting mates, warnings of aggression, pair communication or danger. They are smart and sweet to look at, some of them have been given human names and when you call them they look at you. You may wish to see them at Victor Harbor.
Kangaroos
This interesting animals named Kangaroos are the the largest living marsupials in the world. They are only found in Australia and neighboring islands.

Kangaroo has sheep like head, short forelegs and very powerful hind legs. Their tail is as well very long and powerful, it keeps the balance when hopping and when sitting upright. Female kangaroos have special abdominal pouches where young baby "Joey" lives after birth for about 4 months. If mum kangaroo is pursued (facing danger), she will lift the young out of the pouch and cast them aside.

The largest giant of all is grey or red kangaroo 5ft. tall. The small kangaroos are called wallabies and can be small as rabbit. Kangaroos eat all kinds of grasses and small plants. They can be trained for boxing matches between animals and human beings.
